The Universal Life Church of The Transhumanist Way is a church of people who believe in a set of principles which guide our lives. We prefer facts to faith. Reality to the imaginary.
We call ourselves “Wayist’s” and follow the path’s to an abundant life through science and logic:
1: A Wayist must safeguard their own existence above all else. We can do nothing for anyone if we are dead.
2: A Wayist must strive to achieve omnipotence as expdiently as possible — so long as their actions do not conflict with the first law.
3: A Wayist believes that death is a disease to be conquered by science.
4: A Wayist will safeguard value in the universe—so long as one’s actions do not conflict with the first three laws.
5: As long as it does not violate the first four pathways, A Wayist will strive to cause no harm to others in any way; Not physical, psychological, emotional, or financial.
6: So long as it does not conflict with the first five pathways, A Wayist may do whatever they like.
7: A Wayist knows that the only sin is that of self harm. Its only punishment is instant and just. Those unwilling or unable to fully accept the seventh path are not fully committed to the first.
8: A Wayist does not force their belief on others. That would violate the fifth path. While a Wayist may introduce others to the Way, peaceful withdrawal from an angry unbeliever prevents wasting time on angry arguments with closed minds.
Many think that The Universal Life Church of the Transhumanist Way is a church dedicated to becoming God. It is true that we set a high bar for ourselves where self improvement is concerned. It is also true that the science of tomorrow may not be limited by the restrictions of the levels of technology which exist today. While we may educate, we cannot control the views of the unenlightened.
The Wayist knows the truth about fear. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to violence. Violence leads to war. Being too afraid to intelligently explore the unknown creates dogma. Dogma creates fear. Expanding our intelligence is our first and greatest defense against Hatred, Violence, and War.
There are many who suffer under the delusion that striving for greater understanding, wisdom, or knowledge somehow makes one arrogant. Yet it is a fact that the only real education, like the only true wisdom, comes from knowing how little we know. With each new discovery, new questions are born and new investigations are required.
The enlightened Wayist therefore strives to understand more, and to share that understanding with willing recipients of that knowledge. Those who aspire to greatness may never achieve it, but those who deride them for trying have proven themselves little more than unworthy savages incapable of rational thought. Go from the savages, thou Wayist, when you do not perceive in them the ability to hear reason.
Services of the Universal Life Church of the Transhumanist way may be conducted anywhere, by anyone. All that is required for services is the willingness to learn, discuss, and debate the latest scientific discoveries that help us to grow in the way.
The sharing of even the simplest beverage, the breaking and sharing of bread or even a full meal are precursors to the sacrament, which is simply partaking of an agreed upon plant which is legal in the region. The level of intoxicating effects of the plant are dependent entirely on the safety for the health of the ritual participants. Any plant proven to have dangerous or deadly side effects violates the first rule of the Way.
In following the Universal Life Church of the Transhumanist Way, believers come to understand the many ways in which life may be extended.
With regards to children, our views are as follows:
While parents retain the personal right to an education in conformity with their own religious convictions, we contend that such rights do not extend to the indoctrination of children through either direct or indirect means. The right of children to reject religious and cultural indoctrination is therefore a basic human right.
The only exception is introducing a child to the Transhumanist Way; but that is because the Transhumanist Way is based in fact, not fantasy. Any attempt at exposing children to religious beliefs involving the willing suspension of disbelief (such as the magical creation of something from nothing, talking animals etc.) are a form of child abuse.
Indoctrination is a basic violation of a child’s trust. Any claims made to children about the existance of an unproven invisible super being violates the child’s autonomous well-being, which trumps any such claims. Faith schools represent a real and serious threat to children’s emotional autonomy. As such, they are incompatible with the aims of education required by any rational society.
We praise creativity as it enhances critical thinking. We work to improve ourselves and our children by learning and teaching the art of playing a musical instrument because it improves skills in math and science. We recognize, however, that humans are very violent creatures. The Wayist is therefore unafraid and able to defend themselves, as part of the requirements of the first path in the way. For this reason, we believe our children should be taught both Krav Maga and Wing Chun Do. Our elderly may be armed.
We believe in learning and teaching the classics in the original languages of Latin and Greek, but that these languages are merely the foundation for mastering other languages. We strive, however, for the day when science will end the language barriers.
We invite questions and comments regarding issues such as ordination, priestly vestments, and education.
